Every White Industries Component Has a Story
When you hold a White Industries component in your hand, it’s easy to admire the polished finish, vibrant anodized color, or perfectly machined details. But long before it finds its way onto your bike, that component begins its life as a simple piece of raw material.
At White Industries, we believe the journey matters just as much as the destination.
From the first cut of aluminum to the final quality inspection, nearly every step happens under one roof at our headquarters in Petaluma, California. It’s an approach we’ve refined for decades because it gives us complete control over quality, craftsmanship, and the details that set our components apart.
Let’s take a look behind the scenes.
It All Starts with Raw Material
Every component begins as a solid piece of aluminum, titanium, or steel.
To most people, it doesn’t look like much. But to our machinists, it’s the starting point for something special.
Choosing the right material is just as important as the machining itself. Each alloy is selected for its unique combination of strength, weight, durability, and performance, ensuring every component is built to handle years of riding.

Precision CNC Machining
This is where the transformation begins.
Using state-of-the-art CNC machines, raw material is carefully machined into the components riders know and trust. Every curve, thread, pocket, and chamfer is created with incredible precision, often within thousandths of an inch.
It’s a process that requires experience, attention to detail, and a healthy respect for the machines doing the work.
By machining our own components, we can continually refine designs, improve manufacturing processes, and maintain the tight tolerances that define White Industries.

The Details Matter
Machining is only the beginning.
After leaving the CNC machines, components move through a series of finishing processes that give them their unmistakable White Industries look.
Edges are carefully deburred. Surfaces are polished. Threads are inspected. Logos are machine engraved—not laser etched—for a crisp, premium finish that stands the test of time.

These are the details many people never notice individually, but together they create the level of quality riders have come to expect.
Bringing Color to Life
Once the machining is complete, many components head off for anodizing.
Whether it’s our signature Purple, timeless Polished Silver, classic Black, or one of our vibrant anodized colors, each finish is chosen to complement the precision machining beneath it while providing years of durability.
The result is a component that’s every bit as beautiful as it is functional.

Hands-on Assembly
While precision machining gets most of the attention, every White Industries component still relies on skilled hands.
Premium Enduro bearings are carefully installed. Freehub mechanisms are assembled. Axles are fitted. Hardware is torqued to specification.

It’s a process where experience matters.
Many of the people assembling today’s products have spent years building White Industries components, developing the expertise that comes from assembling thousands of hubs, bottom brackets, headsets, and freewheels.
Every Component Gets a Final Check
Before any component leaves Petaluma, it goes through a final inspection.
Dimensions are verified. Bearings are checked for smooth operation. Finishes are inspected. Threads are tested. Every component must meet the standards we’ve built our reputation on before it earns a White Industries logo.
It’s our last opportunity to make sure everything is exactly as it should be.
And we take that responsibility seriously.

Why We Keep It Under One Roof
Manufacturing under one roof isn’t the easiest way to build bicycle components—but we believe it’s the best.
It allows our engineering, machining, assembly, and quality teams to work side by side, solving problems quickly, improving designs, and maintaining complete oversight throughout the manufacturing process.

It also gives us the flexibility to innovate, produce smaller production runs, and ensure every component meets the standards we’ve upheld for decades.
Most importantly, it allows us to build products we’re proud to put our name on.
More Than a Component
Whether it’s a hub that carries you through your favorite gravel race, a freewheel that becomes the soundtrack to every ride, or even a seat collar that quietly does its job for years, every White Industries component shares the same journey.
It starts as raw material.
It passes through the hands of skilled machinists, polishers, assemblers, and inspectors.
And it leaves our shop ready for years of adventures.

That’s the difference precision manufacturing makes.
That’s the White Industries way.
Made in Petaluma. Built to Last.
For nearly 50 years, White Industries has remained committed to designing and manufacturing premium bicycle components in the USA. It’s a commitment rooted in craftsmanship, precision, and the belief that the best products are built with care—from the very first cut of raw material to the final spin of a bearing.
