A30 Cranks

The A30 is part of our 30mm spindle line of cranks which also includes the M30, R30 and G30 models. The “A” stands for adventure and the “30” is for the 30mm spindle. Made here in our shop, the A30 draws on over 30 years of crank manufacturing experience with a focus on all the White Industries hallmarks; functionality, durability, and clean design. The best way to describe this model is, “kind of odd and probably not going to fit your bike.” So read all the info below before you purchase….

The A30 combines our R30 road crank arms with our M30 mountain spindle to give you an odd mix of a mountain chainline with narrower crank arms that will not fit on a mountain bike. So what bikes will this fit, and why would I need it? There are some gravel frames out there (mostly custom made) with 73mm wide bottom bracket shells that require a longer spindle than the R30 or G30 crank has, but also have narrower chainstays that don’t need the wider crank arm stance of the M30 crank. That’s where the A30 comes in. Think of it as a mountain crank with a slimmer Q factor. They come in two crank arm colors, eight extractor cap colors, three 1x chainlines, a 2x chainring option, and six crank arm lengths. **This is the allowable outside-to-outside measurement of your BB bearings (with seals) when they are mounted to your frame. The bearing preload collar on the crank is adjustable and can accommodate slightly wider or narrower widths (+/- 1mm) than the target number.

Square Taper ENO Cranks

This is our “Old School” mountain and single speed crank designed for J.I.S. square taper bottom brackets. What does “ENO” stand for? It’s “ONE” backwards and mirrored, a CNC programming error made years ago that we decided was kind of cool. So instead of “ONE” (a nod to the fact that single speeders loved this crank), we say, “ENO”, like Brian Eno.

External BSA Bottom Brackets

White Industries external BSA style bottom brackets are made here in our shop and feature Enduro stainless steel angular contact bearings or optional Enduro XD-15 ceramic-hybrid radial bearings. We offer them with three different bearing sizes to help you fit your favorite crank to your favorite bike.

“BSA” bottom bracket shells and cups are named after the Birmingham Small Arms Company which created the thread standard used in this system. It’s also referred to as “British” or “English” style and is the most common type of system found on modern bicycles. The “external” designation refers to the fact that the bearings will sit outboard of your frame’s bottom bracket shell as opposed to being tucked inside the shell as you would find on some styles of BSA bottom brackets.

External T47 Bottom Bracket

Product Details

White Industries external T47 style bottom brackets are made here in our shop and feature Enduro stainless steel angular contact bearings or optional Enduro XD-15 ceramic-hybrid radial bearings. We offer them with three different bearing sizes to help you fit your favorite crank to your favorite bike. “T47” is a bottom bracket standard that White Industries helped develop in 2016 and allows for a greater weld area for bigger frame tubes as well as room inside the shell for internally routed cables and wires.

The “T” stands for “threaded” and the “47” is the nominal 47mm outside thread diameter of the cup. T47 bottom bracket cups are not compatible with the much smaller (and more common) threaded BSA BB shells. The “external” designation on this bottom bracket refers to the fact that the bearings sit “outboard” of 68mm and 73mm wide bottom bracket shells, as opposed to our “internal” T47 bottom brackets where the bearings sit “inboard” of 86mm and 92mm wide bottom bracket shells. If you have an 86mm or 92mm wide T47 bottom bracket shell on your frame, you will need one of our “internal” T47 bottom brackets.

External PF30 Bottom Bracket

Product Details

This is our PressFit 30 (PF30) bottom bracket system and incorporates a “thread-together” design that keeps the bearings aligned, prevents creaking and has a built in sleeve to protect against contamination as well as offering room for internal cable routing and wiring. It is made in our shop and features Enduro stainless steel angular contact bearings or optional Enduro XD-15 ceramic-hybrid radial bearings.

“PF30” is a bottom bracket shell type that was originally designed to use internal bearings (inside the BB shell) with a short, 30mm diameter crank spindle. With this thread-together bottom bracket we have located the bearings externally of the BB shell to work specifically with longer 30mm and 29mm crank spindles.

Square Taper Bottom Bracket

Product Details

This is one of the first products White Industries ever produced way back in 1988. We’ve updated the design along the way and it remains a popular item all these years later despite the introduction of more “modern” crank and bottom bracket designs. This is a BSA “square taper” style bottom bracket which uses BSA threads and a spindle that uses a square/tapered crank arm interface. It is compatible with White Industries ENO square taper and Road Square Taper cranks as well as other brands that use a J.I.S. (Japanese Industrial Standard) taper such as Shimano, Sugino, and others. These bottom brackets are not compatible with Campy cranks which use an ISO or “Campy” style taper.
