Product Details
As with all our hubs, the Mi5 (pronounced “em-eye-5”) draws on over 30 years worth of hub manufacturing experience and real world testing, going back to the “Ti Front hub” we introduced in 1992. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and every White Industries hub we make has that original DNA in it; simple, durable, dependable.
The Mi5 is the direct descendant of those 90’s hubs and is a perfect choice for rim brake road and gravel bikes because of their low weight and clean, minimalist look, but they are equally at home on mountain and touring builds due to their robust and durable design. The Mi5 rotates on two Enduro brand bearings, and are made here in our Petaluma, Ca. shop. They are available in four spoke drillings and two colors.

FAQ
- Which is better, the Mi5 hub or T11 hub?
- Neither is “better”, they just have different applications. The T11 is a lighter weight rim brake road hub and the Mi5 is a little beefier for touring and mountain bikes, but can be used on road bikes if you want a more stout hub.
- What type of service should I be performing on my hubs, and how often?
- This depends on the type of climate you’re riding in, and how often. To check the bearings, remove the wheel once a month and spin the axle with your fingers to check for roughness which would indicate a bearing/bearings need to be replaced. In wet climates you can smear extra grease on the faces of the outer bearings to help protect them. For this, we like to use Sta-Lube Water-Resistant Marine Grease.
- Can I get this hub in a 12mm x 100mm or 15mm x 100mm Thru axle?
- Yes, but you’ll need to call us to order it.
- Can I convert my Mi5 hub to a 12mm x 100mm axle or 15mm x 100mm Thru axle? And is that and difficult?
- You can swap but you may need to purchase a new axle kit depending on what you currently have and what you want to change to. Axle kits are on the Parts>Hub Parts>Axle Kits page. Instructions are in the Front Hub Assembly document, but it’s not a complicated procedure and does not require special tools.

- How can I restore that shiny silver finish on my polished raw aluminum White Industries parts?
- Use “Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish” with a microfiber rag. Start with heavy pressure and lighten up towards the end.
- Can I get these in a custom anodized color or hole drilling?
- Unfortunately we do not offer those options.
