The only reason you would be purchasing this ring is if you already have a set of V1 rings and just need to replace the inner ring. Otherwise go to the “v2 VBC 2x Chainring Sets” page and purchase a complete set of v2 rings, they’ll work with whatever set up you already have. v1 VBC 2x chainrings and hardware are not cross compatible with v2 VBC 2x chainrings and hardware.
Specs
- Compatible with White Industries cranks, v1 VBC 2x outer chainrings, and v1 VBC 2x Chainring Hardware Set only
- Chainrings are made from U.S. sourced 7075-T6 aluminum
- Available in black anodize only
- Hardware available separately (see Chainrings>v1 VBC 2x Chainring Hardware Set)
- Inner v1 VBC 2x rings are engraved with “Inside”, which should face toward the frame
- Compatible with 9, 10, and 11 speed drivetrains only
- 12 speed chains are too narrow and will fall/jam between the rings
- We recommend Shimano front derailleurs only for best shifting performance
- To ensure proper shifting we recommended inner/outer chainring combinations of:
- A difference no smaller than 10 teeth
- A difference no bigger than 20 teeth
- Inner chainrings are available from 24t to 38t in 2 teeth increments
- Outer chainrings are available from 38t to 52t in 2 teeth increments

Compatibility
- Compatible with White Industries cranks only
- Compatible with Shimano and SRAM 9-11 speed 2x drivetrains
- Shimano 9-11 speed 105/Ultegra/GRX/Dura Ace 2x drivetrains
- Mechanical or electronic versions
- Not compatible with SRAM and Campy front derailleurs
- They simply don’t work with these rings
- Available to fit either MR30 cranks or ENO/Road Square Taper cranks
- Each crank style uses a different spline configuration for the outer ring
- Inner VBC v2 chainrings are the same for either crank style
- v1 VBC 2x chainrings and hardware are not cross compatible with v2 VBC 2x chainrings and hardware
- All the parts are different; inner rings, outer rings, chainring bolts, chainring nuts, and shift ramps
- v1 and v2 hardware sets and individual hardware parts are available on our website if you need replacements
- Combinations smaller than 10-tooth gaps or greater than 20-tooth gaps are not recommended
- These combos do not shift well
- We do not offer these combinations in “sets” for this reason
- Outer VBC v1 chainrings cannot be used without an inner chainring
- Outer are not stiff enough by themselves
- They need the inner ring mounted to stiffen the whole assembly
