Brandon hopkins

For Brandon, bikes have always been about fun.

Whether it’s racing, jumping, chasing wheelies, or just riding with friends, the goal has never changed: keep it smooth, keep it stylish, and enjoy every minute of it.

When he’s not on the bike, Brandon keeps life full — spending time with his family, being an active member of his community, hiking, duck hunting, riding dirt bikes, and cheering on his kids in whatever activities they’re passionate about.

But give him two wheels, and things get interesting.

“Riding with flavor and style — trying to keep it buttery smooth and always fun.”

From BMX Roots to Anything on Two Wheels

Brandon’s relationship with bikes started early.

Like many riders, it began with childhood freedom — riding around as a kid. But things shifted when he discovered BMX racing at age eleven.

That competitive spark set the course.

BMX led to mountain biking in his twenties, which led to slalom racing. Slalom turned into downhill. Downhill eventually led to collegiate cycling.

Today, Brandon doesn’t limit himself to one discipline.

If it has two wheels, he’s probably trying to jump it or pop a wheelie.

Riding for the Right Reasons

Over the years, Brandon has learned something simple but important about riding:

“Have fun whether it’s racing, training, or casual. Don’t take it so serious because we all ride because we love it and it’s fun.”

That perspective keeps things balanced. Performance matters, but the joy of riding comes first.

It’s a mindset that makes every ride better.

Local Trails & Good Views

When it comes to local riding spots, Brandon plays things a little close to the chest.

He has a few favorite places near home where the scenery is spectacular and the riding is always a good time. The exact locations might stay secret, but the feeling is what matters — good trails, good views, and good company.

Built on Strong Foundations

Brandon rides White Industries XMR hubs and headset on his current setup.

Why those components?

“Hubs are such an important component to your bike. With the supreme craftsmanship we have at White Industries I knew it would be a supreme upgrade for my bikes.”

For Brandon, durability is a big part of the equation.

“I like something that is functional and makes sense. Durability is super important to me and it doesn’t hurt if it looks really good.”

That balance — function, strength, and clean aesthetics — is exactly what he looks for in a component.

The Detail Riders Miss

Ask Brandon what most riders overlook and he doesn’t hesitate.

The headset.

It’s one of those parts that quietly affects how a bike feels and functions, yet it often gets overlooked in favor of flashier upgrades.

And for someone who values overall bike aesthetics, those small details matter.

Snacks Required

One thing Brandon never leaves home without on a ride?

“SNACK!!!!! That’s a must!”

Fuel keeps the ride going — simple as that.

Music or Nature?

Brandon leans toward awareness.

“I mean don’t get me wrong I love music and jamming out but I like being able to hear my surroundings. The tires hooking up, laughing of friends, birds chirping.”

Sometimes the best soundtrack is the ride itself.

Advice for Building a Bike That Lasts

Brandon’s advice for someone building a bike they want to keep for years is both honest and humorous.

“DO NOT ask people online haha — that’s like an Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole.”

But the real takeaway is simple:

Do a little research. Ignore the buzzwords and gimmicks. Choose components that are durable, functional, and within your budget.

Focus on parts that last.

Keep It Fun

Brandon summed it up best in his final thought:

“Riding bikes is awesome! Thank you White Industries for the support and making my dreams come true.”

For him, riding has always been about the same thing it was when he first started — fun, freedom, and pushing two wheels a little further each time. Brandon is also sponsored by WTB, Mongoose and many more. Fun fact- he was just in a Mountain Dew ad!
